in may. >>> now, we turn to the other big story today. the dismal numbers out on the economy. specifically, the jobs market. our bianna golodryga is here with the shockingly not so good news. >> very disappointing news, josh. a di mall report. just 18,000 new jobs were added in june. that's the smallest gain in nine months. economists had expected anywhere from 90,000 and 150,000 jobs to have been added. and more bad news, the unemployment rate ticked up to 9.2%. unfurther from the may high of 9.1%. now, that had been written off as a one-time slowdown. a tribute to the natural disaster in japan and high oil this mornrng's report questions whether that recovery has stalled. if that's not bad enough, the revisions to may's numbers have been out, as well. >> the president will be speaking about this report a bit later today from the white house. bianna golodryga, thanks very much. >>> and hackers have exposed a security flaw in the software that runs the iphone, ipad and ipod touch devices. you're especially vulnerable when you open pdf files when hackers can view your confiden

be a big burden for this economy, as we're just starting to recover. george? >> jon, they had been hoping on capitol hill to come up with some sort of deal before the markets opened today. that has not happened. it seems, the only thing that everyone seems to be accepting that any deal won't include any new tax increases. >> that's the big deal. but the two sides have essentially given up on the idea of coming up with a bipartisan deal. so, you have harry reid coming up with a plan for democrats. that he says includes $2.7 trillion in spending cuts over the next ten years and gives the president the debt ceiling increase that takes him all of the way to 2013. we haven't seen the details yet, george. republicans are already saying that those -- his plan includes gimmicks and phantom cuts. like claiming big savings because we won't be fighting a war in iraq anymore. so, the republicans are coming up with their plan, which would include about $1 trillion in cuts now. a debt ceiling increase of eight to ten months. it would require the president to come back to congress n

that president obama told congressional leaders in the room last night that he still wants the big deal. $4 trillion in deficit reduction over the next ten years. speaker john boehner says he wants to, too. but there's no path to get there. the clclk is ticking. the major sticking point, whether it's a large part of tax reform, wages on top wage earners go up. democrats say speaker b bhner agreed to put on the table letting the tax cuts for the wealthiest americans expire. but then could not take the heat from his republican caucus. >> this is serious stuff. we've got to be able to deliver on this promise. and i'll make sure that's done and no tax increases. >> reporter: republicans say that the problem is president obama hahabeen unable to bring his own party around to own entitlement spending medicare medicaid, social security, that he put on the table. tick tock. the goal is to reach an agreement in the next couple of weeks so that the law can be written and passed before the deadline of august 2nd, that's when the federal government is slated to run out of money. w
